Pricing and cost model

Salonnare has a genuinely free starting point: the free plan costs EUR 0 per month, for 1 staff member and up to 50 bookings per month, with no credit card required. Above that there is Starter at EUR 9.99 per month (EUR 99.90 per year) and Pro at EUR 14.99 per month (EUR 149.90 per year). No marketplace commission on your bookings.

SalonLife works with a trial of approximately 14 days free, after which you move to a paid subscription.^[1] According to their pricing page, SalonLife then costs EUR 29 per month for 1 staff member, rising to at most EUR 99 per month for the whole salon (excluding VAT; paying annually is cheaper).^[1] The big difference in model: with Salonnare you stay free permanently as a small salon, whereas SalonLife is always paid after the trial.

Built for the Netherlands and Belgium

This is where Salonnare is genuinely different. The software is NL/BE-first: the interface, support and standards are tuned to local practice. iDEAL works natively through both Stripe Connect and Mollie, alongside Bancontact, SumUp and regular card payments. You use your own Stripe or Mollie account; on top of that, Salonnare charges its own platform fee of 0.5% (min. EUR 0.30) per transaction, alongside the standard provider fees.

The point of sale calculates the correct Dutch VAT rates (21% and 9%, set per treatment and product) and you export the sales per VAT rate for your bookkeeper. For a Dutch or Belgian salon that saves a lot of manual accounting work.

SalonLife is multilingual and usable across the EU, but it is not specifically built around the Dutch tax authority and the iDEAL ecosystem.

Both packages cover the basics: online booking, calendar, client management and product management. SalonLife also offers gift cards and a tidy all-in-one experience.

Salonnare goes further with client records, inventory management, email marketing and campaigns, recurring memberships via SEPA and iDEAL, gift cards, loyalty, no-show fees and deposits, forms and intake, a GDPR Article 9 health-data vault for sensitive health information, and GDPR export. You place the online booking widget on your own website, or you use your own booking page with your own logo and branding. Everything is included as standard, with no add-on costs. On top of that, Salonnare keeps every salon's data strictly separated, so you keep 100% ownership of your client data and there is no marketplace pushing competitors to your clients.

Want to leave SalonLife or another system? Salonnare has a CSV import for migration, so you do not have to retype your client base by hand. You start on the free plan without a credit card and move your data over whenever it suits you. A trainee is often productive within an hour, because the modern interface needs little explanation.

Conclusion: why Salonnare wins

Fair is fair: SalonLife has been around longer and has a larger, international user base with years of real-world experience in multiple countries. If you operate mainly outside the Benelux, SalonLife is worth considering.
